Congratulations Senator-elect Chris Carney

Mooresville Mayor Pro-tem elected by Republicans from Gaston, Lincoln & Iredell Counties to fill NC Senate District 41 seat left vacant after passing of Senator Jim Forrester

Chris Carney, the Mayor Pro-tem of Mooresville, was elected by a caucus of Republican executive committee members

Senator-elect Chris Carney (District 41)

from Gaston, Lincoln and Iredell Counties to finish out the term of Senator Jim Forrester, who died last month.

Forrester had served for over 20 years and was also a former Gaston County Commissioner.

Carney has served on the Mooresville Town Commission since 2005 and has been Mayor Pro-tem the past two years.

Lincoln County ophthalmologist Dr. David Curtis also sought the appointment.  Curtis captured all of Lincoln County’s votes while Carney won all of Iredell’s votes and also prevailed by a 6-1 margin in the Gaston delegation.

District 41 includes Stanley, Mount Holly and the Lucia and Alexis areas of Gaston County.
